The top posters list -- keep it or delete it?

I am the boss..

My other half does the hard bit (so he'd like to think )

We have 4 people working for us, and an apprentice who's the nephew of someone who works for us, but he gets paid a normal wage, instead of a trainee salary, because he works just as hard as everyone else..and my OH has kinda took him under his wing.
I don't like to call them employees, because we are like family..everyone is equal, and none of us could function without the other.
My family and I are very lucky, and because of what we do, we can take the kids to HQ, and they love it..and get spoilt by all of our customers, and get to be involved with some very cool stuff.

I do the admin side of things, and take care of all the things that come with that, so i'm either at a computer, or have some kind of mobile device in my hand, which means i'm constantly connected to the "outside world"
I can work from home or HQ, and I always have a PR/facebook/youtube tab open, for those times where I think my eyeballs will pop out from thinking too much..I come and have a bit of a read, then get back to what i'm supposed to be doing.

It probably looks like i'm here 24/7..but I actually am only active, for about an hour a day..i'm always logged in, because the PR tab rarely get's closed, but I do manage to get some work done .

@Jellyfish -- Sounds like you have a really cool job!! My computer stays on 24/7 because I've heard it's easier on hardware than to constantly turn it off-on-off, etc. Actually, there are different opinions on that, but it makes sense to me to keep it on. I usually keep my favourite site tabs open 24/7, too.. with PR being one of them. This reminds me of something I've been curious about... my SO told me that when you are logged in to a forum and you are idle for a certain amount of time, that you don't show as being 'online' on the forum. Is this true?

I'm not really sure..I know that Pr (for me anyway) boots you out after a while of being in active..so I have to log back in whenever I come back to read stuff.
And when I do, it'll say something like "last online 7 hours ago" which tallies up to the last time I put my login details in, not when I was actually last activebefore being for being logged out.

@Jellyfish -- PR's never booted me out, thus far. I've had the tab open for hours at a time when I'm not on my computer and when I get back on, I'm still logged in. I had forgotten about that 'last online x hours ago' thing. I'll have to check that out more often. It's not a big deal, really, I'm just curious as to how it works, plus I'd love to be able to to tell my SO that he's el-wrongo about the idling thing...lol My belief is that one shows as 'online' when logged on to the forum, idle or not.

It could be to do with my settings then..i'll have a look.

I know that if i'm not at my own computer, I don't check the "remember me" box, in case anyone else uses it and my tabs restore by accident or something, and it seems to happen more often then, but then agaqin, i'm less active when on that one, so I don't know,

I've discovered that both scenarios are right. If I leave PR say for work and click back I always have to relog in. And if I leave the site open say to go to bed,come back 3 hours later cause I couln't sleep, I also am asked to relog,
I only use my laptop for PR so that my kids never stumble onto it, so perhaps the drives are auromatically saving space??? i am NO computer expert so anyone with knowledge that can answer this it would be interesting.

I noticed I was on the 'top poster' list, but on the bottom. Looked at it again, and now I'm right under @Keith K Stone, so I can't help but think this is directed at me, at least in part. I don't care about my post count. I don't post just to raise it, I can assure you.

Honestly, I haven't been sleeping well for the past couple of weeks. When I can't sleep, I get on PR to occupy myself. I guess I've been on here more often, therefore posting more. If anyone is upset that I am on the list, or my position on it, I will happily request that @drboris remove my name from the list (if possible). It's cool being on there, but it doesn't mean enough to me to have other people ticked off at me about it.

ps: @Blockhead, I completely agree w/ you that the amount of helpful posts are much more important than post count. Also, this post wasn't totally directed at you, because for all I know, there are other people that feel the same way.

@crucibelle, I always find your posts helpful. It is clear to me that the content of your posts prove that you are quite erudite. I am always interested to read what you have to say.

I think that some of us have different notions about the importance of the number of posts that we make. This forum's members are quite a diverse group. Some people will get bent out of shape about some things where others
would not.

I think the fact that you post helpful info is all that really matters. If some people are miffed by your top poster count then they should get over it.

@betsky i am confused by the top poster list, it used to show accurately- River was up there, Cruci, alumni etc... now it shows random people when i look at it. ??

I am in and out of my favorites several different times because I used to leave them up and then Facebook makes some error and I come sit down and see 10 people tried to talk to me. I try to leave that silly chat crap off, talk to me through messages that way if I don't like you I don't have to respond

I just looked and it looks fine to me, when you get banned you are taken of the top posters list, I've seen this happen to more than just river, I believe swim and qvc were on the top posters list when they were banned and taken off quickly....

I presume it will not be an issue as soon as @drboris can manage to eliminate it. Some of the names are admin and mods if you aren't familiar with them.
@kmontayne is the only one I have noticed posting a bit, most of the others, post when a thread is closed only. imho

@betsky when I view the list it shows random people with 250 posts, does not seem like its active. I get to it through the quick links bar... Is there some other top posters list?
