Xanax 0.5 mg versus Klonopin 0.5 m.g.
What would make a physician prescribe one instead of the other?

Klonipin is a longer lasting anti-anxiety med in the bloodstream. Xanax is shorter acting. I have been on both and prefer Klonipin but it is up to your doctor which he prefers for your probblems.

Stick with klonopin/klonazepam. Much more controllable than xanax, from what I've heard.
