My doctor has perscribed phentermine?

My doctor has perscribed phentermine for me because I have gained quite a bit of weight. He says this will jump start my weight loss. Has anyone ever used this product? HOw much weight did you loose in one month. I know that this medicine is addictive and could cause problems but I have to do something. I am all ready eating a balanced diet and exercisiing. I am also doing this closly under my doctors care. I just did not want to ask him how much it would make me loose a month.
I forgot to mention that the cause of my weight gain was a hormonal imbalance caused by using a medicine with a steriod in it. THat medicine was taken because I had a nasty case of pnemonia.
