Usually the doctor will instruct you to take Zoloft 25mg daily for one week and then stop. Never stop a medication cold turkey unless told to by your physician. As far as your worse depression and Zoloft...it takes a good six weeks before you notice any changes in your mood. Talk with your physician. Good luck.

oh yes my mom has lots of side effects on zoloft. she had to taper back on that and then was put on a different one. sounds like your doctor is doing the right thing.

Usually you start by halving the dose and adding another medicine, just like your doc is having you do. Once you've been on the lower dose of Zoloft for a week, he will probably tell you to take it just every other day for a week or two. I don't think it will need further tapering, but follow his instructions to the letter.

25 mg Of Zoloft Is Barly Anything.
I Asked Mine If I Could Lower It Becasue I Felt I Was Coping With Things Better.
He Said Just To Say On 50 mg.
The First Month , Yes, I Was Even More Depressed.
I've Been On It A While Now And It Helps Greatly.
..I'm Only 13.
Hope It Helped :]

The zoloft was great for my depression but like you it caused me to have diarrhea and we had to stop it. Maybe some of your depression contributed to the fact that you had diarrhea all the time--I know it depressed me. I couldn't plan to go anywhere because I never knew how I felt. I haven't taken Cymbalta, but I know people who have had good luck with it--it takes a while to get in your systen so be patient. My doctor changed me to Prozac, and I feel like a different person--It helps my depression and anxiety.Good luck--I will be praying for you.
