hydrocodone
why is it that dr's do not want to prescribe vicodin anymore ?
i've have 3 herniated cervical disks for 15 years now & my old dr. died &i have moved and have not found anyone who can or wil help me.
seen several dr's
they say the stuff is addictive.
so what.
that is the only med that has ever helped me function, and god knows i've been on more than i can count. most either made me goofy, sleepy, irritable or nauseaus.
raised up 3 children, worked full time, attended & graduated college all with the help of pain killers.
without them i can barely get out of bed, dress, eat, much less any hobbies like cooking, sewing, playing with grand kids, gardening, cards, damn near everything.
i'd rather be addicted & pain free for whatever years i have left than to be in pain & miserable indefinitely.
i thought the Dr's job was to treat you so you have as little pain as possible instead of only lecturing you about the "horrors' of medicine.
damn.

It would be unethical to prescribe medication to you without warning you about the addictive nature of the substance. Also, opiates, including Vicodin, have a tendency to create fantom pain in us that makes us believe we are in pain, in more pain than we actually would be without it, etc. Beyond that, the doctors who prescribe the narcotic pain medications are held accountable. A database exists now that tracks who is prescribed what and by whom. Have you pursued treament with a pain management doctor? Would physical therapy help you at all?
